Massachusetts Construction Accident Takes Life of 82-Year-Old Man

On Friday, October 7th, a New York man was killed after being run over by a piece of equipment at a construction site at the Clark Art Institute in Williamstown.  The accident occurred around 7:30 in the morning.  John J. Hanson, a Castleton, NY resident was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident according to a Berkshire District Attorney’s news release.

The construction accident happened at 225 South Street at the location of the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute.  Hanson, who was 82 years old, was a subcontractor and was reportedly affiliated with a soil testing company in Castleton; authorities did not release much information about Hanson at the time of the accident.

Little information was released regarding the accident, other than Hanson was apparently struck by a piece of construction equipment and run over.  Investigations are ongoing by the Williamstown and state police, as well as OSHA.  The art institute is undergoing expansion.  Hopefully, more details will be forthcoming as investigations continue in the coming days and weeks.
